Mineral description : Wolframite

Wolframite from Baggetorp. In the middle of the rock there is a crystal.

Mineral class	Sulphates : Crocoit - wulfenite - scheelite group.
Chemical formula	(Fe,Mn)WO4
Crystal system	Monoclinic.
Habitus	Often as thick tabular crystals, but also as massive or foliated aggregates.
Cleavage	Perfect with an uneven fracture.
Hardness	4-4.5
Density	6.7-7.5
Color	Brownish black.
Streak	Dark brown, almost black.
Luster	Metallic to adamantine.
Description
Occurance	In hydrothermal veins and in pegmatites.

Notes
Locations	A not so common mineral in Sweden. Baggetorp, Tjällmo, Östergötland. Crystals up to a couple of cm can be found at the waste heap. Persgruvan, Riddarhyttan. As aggregates up to 5 cm.
