Montebrasite (or amblygonite) from Varuträsk.

Habitus As large euhedral crystals.
Cleavage

Color White.
Streak White.
Luster Vitreous.
Description  
Occurance In lithium bearing granitic pegmatites.
Associates  
Notes The high lithium contents gives red coloring of a flame.
Type locality : Montebras, Soumans, Creuse, France.
Hard to separate from amblygonite.
Locations A not so common mineral in Sweden.
  • Varuträsk pegmatite, Skellefteå, Västerbotten. Commonly as large cleavable masses (up to 1.5m) or single coarse crystals of 1.5 to 10 cm size. Montebrasite is more common than amblygonite.
