Melanite from Kazachstan.
Really black crystals, light on max in the scanner :-)

Hardness 6.5-7.5
Density  
Color Black.
Crystal form Cubic. Usually rombdodecaedric or ikosatetraedric crystals.
Luster Glas.
Habitat  
Associates  
Notes A titanium containing garnet, closely related to andradite.
Locations
  • Alnön, Sundsvall. Not so rare in the eruptive rocks. As masses or small crystals.
