Cleavage Perfect in one direction {010}, good on {100}, fair on {001}, brittle conchoidal smooth uneven splintery-->

Color Colorless to white.
Streak White.
Luster Pearly on cleavages.

Notes Strong bluish white fluorescense in short wave UV (rarely read to pink).
Type locality: Franklin, Sussex Co, New Jersey, USA.
Because of the cleavage, fragments are showing a rhombic form.
Named after Greec words for pearly (Margariotes = pearls) and the crystal form (Sanis = plate or board).
Localities Sweden :
  • Långban, Värmland. In druses and fractures in schefferite scarn or hausmannite impregnated dolomite.
  • Jakobsberg, Nordmark, Värmland. In fractures with richterite and garnet.
Norway : No known localities.
Finland : No known localities.
