Type locality : Rio Marina, Elba, Toscana (Tuscany), Italy. The name Ilvaite is from the latin name Ilva for the island of Elba. Easily soluble in hydrocloric acid. Fuses easily in a flame. Ilvaite is polymorphic and both orthorombic and monoclinic forms are known. |
