In Norway it is found in every pegmatite containing thortveitite. It is the pegmatitic
mineral containing most scandium after thortveitite, at average 1.5% in analysed samples. Type locality : Miass River, Zlatoust region, Ilmen Mountains, Ural, Russia. Discovered in 1854 by Koksharov, named after the Ilmen mountains. |
