Cleavage [001] Perfect.

Density 4.7 - 4.8
Color Black, opaque.
Streak Reddish brown.
Luster Submetallic.
Description A manganese ore.

Notes Type locality : Ilfeld, Harz, Germany.
Named after the German mineralogist, J. F. L. Hausmann (1782-1859).
Hausmannite isn't magnetic, separates it from magnetite.
Localities A common manganese ore in Sweden
