Eudialyte from Norra Kärr.

Chemical formula Na3(Ca,Fe)3Zr(OH,Cl/Si3O9)2
Crystal system Trigonal/hexagonal
Habitus Crystals are tabular, rombohedral or prismatic, but often as rounded grains.
Cleavage Indistinct, fracture uneven.
Hardness 5-5.5
Density 2.74-2.98
Color Often red but also exists in yellowish brown to red or pink hues.
Streak White
Luster Vitreous to dull lustre.
Description  
Occurance In nefeline syenites.
Associates Arfvedsonite, nefeline, aegirine, katapleite.
Notes Easily dissolved in acids.
Locations A rare mineral in Sweden, but with one good locality.
  • Norra Kärr, Gränna. Up to a couple of cm big crystals with feldspar.
