|Habitus||Hexagonal prisms, often with flat terminations. Sometimes also massive.|
|Cleavage||Indistinct, uneven to conchoidal fracture.|
|Color||Grayish whit, yellowish to greenish. Rarely as blue, pink, yellow, green and red.|
|Luster||Vitreous to dull, transparent to translucent.|
|Occurance||In pegmatites or granites. Also in greisen occurances and some metamorphic schists.|
|Associates||Tourmaline, Chrysoberyl in rocks poor in quartz.|
|Notes|| Fuses with difficulty, roundening the edges
of small fragments.|
