Crystal system Orthorombic
Habitus Prismatic to needle like crystals common. Also as massive aggregates.
Cleavage Perfect along the crystal, uneven to subconchoidal fracture.
Hardness 2
Density 4.63-4.66
Color Steel gray, sometimes with iridescence.
Streak Led gray.
Luster Metallic.
Description  
Occurance In low temperature hydrothermal veins.
Associates Often with red kermesite or yellow antimony ockra as surface alterations.
Notes Fuses in a match flame.
Soluble in hydrocloric acid.
Also called stibnite.
Locations A rare mineral in Sweden.
  • Långban, Värmland. As radiating small crystals in cracks in hematite.
  • Västerby feldspar quarry. As a rarity.
  • Nasafjäll silver mine, Lappland. In holes with other sulphides in quartz.
  • Fröå mine, Jämtland. As a rarity.
