VISITS

1997-10-?? The first time I visited this locality was in the evening in the autumn. It was starting to get dark, and I didn't find it directly because I took a wrong turn at a road in the forest.
When I finally did find it, it was the smallest quarry I've ever seen. Only a 2 meter wide ditch, about 15-20 m long. Anyhow, I started to look around, and found a piece of the "pyrofysalite" I'd read about. When I got it out, it was almost dark, so I quit for the day and went back home to Västerås.

Muscovite (Pyrofysalite)

This is a massive chunk of pyrofysalite, a topas partly transformed into damourite, a muscovite variety.
It was sitting in feldspar when I found it, but it fell away from the matrix when it came loos.
