This is a couple of the minerals I collected at Sala silver mine during my
1997 tour of Bergslagen. I made a quick search of the dumping masses of the mine and collected some minerals. After about half an hour I decided to search after the elusive Glasgruvan.... About two hours later and a lot of walking around the mines I gave up and left for the pegmatite near Granmuren. | ||

This is a corner that I striked off one bigger rock. The bigger rock is tarnished in a brown orange color. Collected 1995 (300 dpi, 800x600, k) |

Salite with calcite. This one is collected in the Glasgruvan. I have tried to find it for about two years now, probably walked right over it also ;-) As a gift from Britta Bäckman in Västerås. (300 dpi, 800x600, k) |

The cerrusite seems to have grown in a fracture, filling it up with a coarse grained mass. Collected 1997-10-06. (300 dpi, 800x600, k) |

Cerrusite as fillings in a crack in limestone. The sample displays a very nice luster and is heavy. It also resists all acids I've tried. Collected 1998-04-16. (300 dpi, 800x600, k) |

A piece of massive talc. Collected 1997-10-06 (300 dpi, 800x600, k) |
| Silver from Sala silver mine were used for coinage and jewellry. Today silver is mostly used in industrial processes and jewellry, for example wholesale silver jewelry from JENA. |
