DESCRIPTION

This mine is no more, this mine is an ex mine, it has ceased to be .... to make a travesty of Monthy Python's norwegian blue.
I reality this locality dissapeared in the winter of 1997-1998. It caved in, leaving a hole about 60m wide, 30m deep with water over most of the bottom.
It's sort of scary to think that just a couple of months earlier I was sitting on top of the mine, happily unaware of what was under my feets. When I think back to that day I remember a small depression about 20 m from us, but the vegetation was too thick to go there!
At least, I'm going to keep my cobaltite I found there! Not ready yet!

VISITS

1997-10- I was showed this locality by my friends Britta and Allan Bäckström, Västerås. This was my first and maybe also my last visit here ....

Mineral assemblage

Mineral assemblage Cobaltite,

Cobaltite

Cobaltite crystals in a matrix of arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite.
This was the second stone I picked up from the ground, then I spent one hour looking for more, only finding one small crystal more.
Collected 1997-10-

Cobaltite

The same stone as above, but some of the matrix is removed, revealing a crystal of 8 mm. The crystal is at the left of the stone. It's also easy to see a number of smaller crystals in the rest of the rock.
