This is a list of some localities in Bjurholm municipal, not ready to get their own descriptions yet. For the following localities there are separate pages :

Mineral assemblage

Mineral assemblage Gold,

Gold

Gold panned from the Örälven, a river running from Örträsk down to Bottenviken, about 150 km long. It is possible to find gold along the whole length of the river.
Collected 1990-1997.

Ytterklippen pegmatite.

This is a small pegmatite south of Balberget. It was quarried for quartz and feldspar.
Minerals found here are biotite, muscovite, feldspar (Oligoklase ?), rosy quartz, beryl, and bertrandite.
Apatite

Apatite could be found as dark green crystals up to a couple of cm in size. It shows a yellow fluorescens, quite strong actually. The core of the apatite is darker and shows no fluorescens.
It is often found together with beryl.
The crystals are mostly fractured from the blasting in the quarry.
Collected 1998
(300 dpi, 800x600, k)
Quartz

Rosy quartz from ytterklippen quartz quarry.
Note the faint banded structure running through the stone, it's easier to see it in reality.
Collected 1997
(200 dpi, 800x600, 58k)
Oligoclase

I think this is oligoclase since it is consistens with color and shows a bluish white fluorescens. The fluorescens seems to come in a network all over the rock.
This crystal is only the top of a bigger one. It shows eight distinct crystal faces and a possible twinning. On the top there are some quartz.
Collected 1998
(150 dpi, 800x600, k)
Oligoclase

I think that this too is oligoclase, but I'm not totally shure.
The crystal is complete except for a small piece missing from one of the corners.
Collected 1998
(300 dpi, 800x600, k)
Oligoclase

I think this is oligoclase since it is consistens with color and shows a bluish white fluorescens. The fluorescens seems to come in a network all over the rock.
There are two crystal faces to the right of the picture, but mostly it is only cleavages around the stone.
Collected 1997
(200 dpi, 800x600, k)
Beryl

Beryl is found in nice hexagonal crystals up to 4 cm in diameter. The color is in different shades of whitish yellow to orange. Many crystals are broken, but it is possible to find terminated crystals among the other.
Collected in 1998.
(300 dpi, 800x600, k)
Beryl

Some of the beryl at Ytterklippen shows a greenish hue. I had a lot of luck when i worked with this one. As I tried to remove a small piece of quartz, the whole front cracked loos and this is the result. It even stands very good by it self.
In the same rock that we found theese crystals there were a number of clear crystals up to 3mm in diameter with a yellowish color.
Collected in 1998.
(300 dpi, 800x600, k)
Muscovite

A nice muscovite crystal. The color of this crystal is deep brown, but not as dark as the picture shows. Reflections makes it look darker than in real life. It is about 1 cm thick.
The crystals are located along a line in the wall to the left in the small quarry. Collected 1998
(200 dpi, 800x600, k)
Muscovite

Muscovite showing some crystal structure.
The color is much lighter, but reflections makes it look dark. Collected 1997
(300 dpi, 800x600, k)
