VISITS

1998-06-13 While the rain was falling we visited the gold mine. It was a very interesting trip which started with a visit to the (anrikningsverk???)

Gold, Bismuth, Graphite, Bornite, Sphalerite, Chalcopyrite, Pyrrhotite, Galena, Tsumoite, Hedleyite, Pyrite, Tellurobismutite, Fluorite, Ferberite, Rutil, Calcite, Malachite, Scheelite, Zircon, Titanite, Almandine, Epidote, Schoerl, Aktinolite, Talc, Muscovite, Biotite, Chlorite, Palygorskite, Quartz, Microcline, Albite, Laumontite. ....

Gold
Gold in quartz. This rock have several fractures filled with thin gold.
You can see the gold shining through the quartz and for a change it's gold every thing that shines!.

Gold
Gold on pyrite. This is a very good example of the color of gold. It has a warmer yellow color than pyrite.

Pyrrhotine with pyrite in quartz.

Scheelite
Scheelite in quartz.

Tsumoite
Silvery flakes of tsumoite to the left with small grains of gold to the right, in quartz.
Tsumoite is found in the Björkdal gold mine as a lead mineral for gold. If you find Tsumoite just look in the neighbour hood and you will find gold also.
